Igor Josifov is a visual and performance artist whose practice explores the body, vulnerability, memory and transformation through performance, fire, glass, installation and sculpture.

Over more than two decades, fire has developed from a direct performative element in Josifov’s work into a broader material and conceptual force. His practice has moved between the performing body, burned surfaces, glass and increasingly sculptural investigations of matter altered through heat.

His work has been presented internationally, including projects at the Art Institute of Chicago, Onassis Cultural Center in Athens, Palazzo Mora in Venice as part of Personal Structures, Cité internationale des arts in Paris, and exhibitions and performances across Europe, the United States, the Middle East and Asia.

In 2025–26, Josifov developed Body of Fire during his residency at Cité internationale des arts in Paris. His current research, Material Transmutation: Body of Fire, continues in Jingdezhen, China, where he is developing After the Break, a new body of work bringing fractured porcelain into dialogue with molten glass and fire.
