Igor Josifov is a visual and performance artist who exhibits and performs internationally. Josifov began exhibiting his work in 2000 at the International Museum of Art in Norway and has since then exhibited and performed worldwide. In 2012, the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Skopje (Macedonia) devoted an artist's solo exhibition: Igor Josifov - selected works (2007-2012), shortly after his participation at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 2010. Josifov’s performance ‘2 - Dimensional’ became a cultural study that was performed 8 times around the globe: on the opening of Renzo Piano's Modern Wing at the Art Institute in Chicago, 'Aesthetics of disappearance', Al Qasba, Maraya Art Centre, Sharjah UAE, the Onassis Cultural Center in Athens, Cite de la Mode in Paris, Le Quatrz in Brest and the Abrons Art Center in New York. Josifov is renowned for the diversity of his multiple works and the way he uses the human body to share his message about our contemporary world. In his role as a performance artist, he draws on all types of media to create his performances, including the unique technique of using fire that has been celebrated in his films: Taming Fire' (2014), 'Burning Words' (2014), 'Wit-ness' (2015), 'Unification' (2015), 'Untie' (2016) and 'Continuum' (2017). ). In 2015 he represented Macedonia at the second edition of Diplomatic Art in Timișoara, Romania. He participated at the VIII International Biennale of Contemporary Art in Tashkent upon an invitation from the European Cultural Center. In Tashkent Josifov presented two projects: at the State Museum of Arts of Uzbekistan he presented his new installation 'Becoming Clear|Crushing Glass', while at the National Gallery of the Arts of Uzbekistan he introduced his performance 'Fire Within'. Josifov took part at the Venice Biennale 2019 in Palazzo Mora where he presented his new transformative project ‘Че биде‘ that was exhibited in Venice from May 11th until November 24th, 2019.
