ABOUT THE ARTIST

Igor Josifov is a visual and performance artist whose practice explores the body, vulnerability, memory, and transformation through performance, fire, glass, installation, and sculpture.

For more than two decades, his work has examined the body as both a physical presence and a site of transformation. Fire has remained a recurring material and conceptual force throughout his practice, moving from direct encounters with the performing body toward glass, burned surfaces, and materials transformed through heat.

His work has been presented internationally at institutions and cultural spaces across Europe, the United States, the Middle East, and Asia.

Josifov is currently developing Material Transmutation: Body of Fire at Taoxichuan Art Center in Jingdezhen, China.

Performance Body of Fire by Igor Josifov at Suli An for the 47th Skopsko Leto 2026

Cinematography: Gorjan V. Prozus

Date: July 8, 2026

ABOUT THE WORK: Fire as ritual and language. This multimedia performance treats fire not as destruction but as a creative partner and witness. The artist ignites a sealed structure; the internal burning alters the courtyard’s architecture through live action and multimedia. Synchronized video projection links the inner act with its visible effects, using light and flame to reshape the space. The work combines performance, sculpture, and site-specific intervention.
